The caching layer isn't at all experimental, but if you're concerned about data integrity you can turn off caching through the preference pane in the new 'unified' build. The 'stable' build was in the end built from the same code base as the 'ublio' build, but with a few features turned off at compile time. 'ublio' was unfortunate, and didn't at all reflect the actual maturity of the code. Instead of doing this, macOS has been designed to read NTFS-formatted drives but not write to them. Does NTFS-3G support macOS High Sierra 10.13? As NTFS is proprietary, Apple would need a special license to use it fully on the Macs they sell. It uses the FUSE file system interface so that it can talk to any Unix like OS including the Mac OS X. NTFS-3G is an open source implementation of NTFS that includes read and write support.
